After coining the new symbol for INR symbol, India faced problems embodying the new symbol on the digital media, like on websites. Thought it was always known that India would soon incorporate the INR symbol into the ASCII list, but it is now official. The Press information bureau of India has released a statement which says,
In order to promote the new symbol of Rupee i.e. the same has been encoded in Unicode Standard and National Standard ISCII. The new symbol has also been placed on the keyboard and by pressing “Alt Gr” + “4” keys together it can be typed. Detailed information is hosted on TDIL Centre (http://tdil-dc.in/) for the benefit of the users at large.
This is a good news to all the bloggers and writers over the web because, very soon they are going to be able to type the rupee symbol directly from the keyboard instead of messy workarounds. The keyboards are going to show the rupee symbol on the keyboards just close to the dollar symbol soon.
