Format USB drive with NTFS file-system in Windows XP

When you want to copy a single file whose size is more than 4gb to a USB drive(pen drive or memory stick) which is of FAT32 file-system, then its not possible in Windows XP . But u will get option to format in NTFS format if you are using Windows-7. But if you wish to format your USB drive in Windows XP, then what should you do?

Here i have a solution for you which requires no extra softwares or any tools. Windows XP operating itself can do this? But the question is How??? Well, here i have the solution for this. Go ahead and enjoy yourself in changing the file-system format to NTFS in Windows XP operating system without any external tools or softwares.

Steps :--

First insert your USB stick(pen drive, memory stick or any other USB drives)

Now right click on your USB drive and select Properties.

Click on Hardware tab.

From the list of hardware listed, select your USB stick and click on Properties(Right bottom corner).

Now go to Policies and select Optimize for Performance and then click on OK and you are done.

Desktop notifications of mails and chats in Gmail for Chrome users

We will be constantly switching from one webpage to another and do not give much concentration on Gmail chats or emails. Because of this reason, you will go with Internet messengers like Gtalk, Empathy, Pidgin and etc.. Recover settings of system after virus attack in Windows

Even after removing virus from your system by using some antivirus software, you cannot restore or recover your system settings :( Generally, after system is affected by virus, Registry settings, Registry editor, msconfig, Control panel, Run, Task manager, Folder options,command prompt, gpedit.msc etc... will be affected and you might not be able to access these things after virus attack. Most of the time, you will not be able to run softwares because of change in Registry settings. For all these problems, here is the solution :) :)

Re-Enable is a free tool using which you can restore all the settings which were disabled by virus. Antiviruses will remove only virus but it will not restore back the settings. At that time, you can use this software and gain access to everything and restore back the settings.

Download Re-Enable software from here.

Install and run the software**.

Select registry editor, command prompt, task manager, folder options etc...

Click on the “Re-Enable” button.

**You will require dot net 3.5 or higher version to run this software.

Restore deleted files with "Restore Deleted Files Now" in Windows

India's first dual sim android phone - Motorola Glam XT800

Motorola XT800

Motorola has released its new Android Smart phone supporting dual-SIM capability in India. Named Motorola Glam XT800, the handset comes with Android 2.2 Froyo, a 3.7 inch touch screen, 5 mega pixel camera and GSM+CDMA connection.

Motorola XT800 works on a processor of 550Mhz and a 256MB RAM on board. External memory can be extended up to 32GB using the microSDHC Card. Motorola XT800 comes with a 3.7 inch touch screen with FWVGA kind of display and a resolution of 480x854, aspect ratio being 16:9. Motorola XT800 also includes a camera of 5mp and capable of 720p HD video recording. Not to miss out, Motorola XT800 also provides an HDMI port for plugging it into an HD TV.

Motorola XT800 has the GPS module, supports Bluetooth 2.1 and also offers Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g.

Even though Mororola XT800 seems to be a feature rich power packed phone, the processor speed of 550Mhz would make it hardly any good. Motorola has released an upgraded version called Motrola XT800+ in China which has a faster processor. This very fact makes me uncomfortable with this phone and would definitely not recommend it until I get one for hands-on review.

How to create amazingly creative facebook profile page?

It's been a while since the launch of facebook's new profile release and has been found a little hacker-easy but some creative and innovative exploited the new looks to create some amazingly cool facebook profile pages like this.

Here are the steps you need to follow.

Step 1: Go to www.fbphotomagic.com.
Click on Start at the bottom of the page.

Step 2: Upload the picture you want to put on your profile.

Step 3: Adjust the window to fit the picture properly in your profile page. The first dropdown menu asks for the number of lines. It is the number of lines between your name and the tagged images section in your profile(these lines contain details like your birthdate, your location etc.). You can find the number of lines in your profile by simply going to your profile.

Above image is the snapshot of step 3. Different shades are very intuitive. Adjust the frame to what you think fits right.

Step 4: Click on Save button on the top right side of the window. You will be presented with two options. You can either directly download them or just use upload it directly to the facebook. Select the option to directly upload to facebook.

When you click on "Upload to Facebook", you will be asked to grant permission to the facebook page.

Step 5: Once you're done with the above step, you will be presented this message.

This step is pretty simple. you have to go to your facebook account, look for the new album created by FB Photo Magic. Go to the album and open the last photo in the album. Make it your profile image. Here's the snapshot of where you can find the option.

This menu is found at the bottom right of the image.

Step 6: That's it you're done. It is now time to show off your profile in front of your friends.

Create PDF files of man pages in Ubuntu

One of the most important feature of linux is its internal online help called man pages which gives a detailed description of any command, its options and syntax. A help on a command can be obtained by simply typing man followed by the command name. For example,

man ls

will give details on the syntax and options of ls command.

If such a detailed entry is needed to be sent to someone over the net, then you may want to convert it into a pdf file. Here's a simple trick that could do it using two simple tools - man and ps2pdf.

man with -t option gives output in postscript format which is well suited for printing.
ps2pdf does the function of printing to a pdf file. So that's the simple trick here. We're going to pipe the output of man -t to ps2pdf and assign it a filename. And we're done.

For example,

man -t ls | ps2pdf - ~/ls_manpage.pdf

The above example creates a pdf file named ls_manpage.pdf in the user's home directory whose contents is that of the man ls command.

Install Unity Qt (2D) on Ubuntu 10.10 and 11.04 using PPA

As we all know now, the next version of Ubuntu has a major change in its desktop environment from Gnome to Unity. It was only a little time ago when Unity Desktop was released for Ubuntu 10.10 users could've installed Unity Desktop by sudo apt-get install unity-desktop. But users who had poor graphics support had a hard time coping up with it and most of them returned to GNome. But now there's a solution as Unity Qt has been released which is the 2D version of the Unity Desktop having minimalist animations and 3D Effects. Unity Qt is lot faster than Unity 3D so I'm sure users are going to enjoy this.

Here's a snapshot of it and it doesn't look that different from the actual 3D Unity.

To install Unity-Qt open your terminal and execute the following instructions in the same order.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:unity-2d-team/uity-2d-daily

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install unity-2d-default-settings

sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

Next time you log in, select Unity-Qt from the options of Environments.

Change Wordpress Title and Description

You might have tried to change the title or description of your wordpress site but unfortunately, you might have ended up by same unchanged title and description of your wordpress site. Here is the solution for this problem :)

Method-1 (If All in One SEO plugin is not installed):--

Go to your website Dashboard.(Ex.http://yourwebsitename/wp-admin)

Now go to Settings-->General.

Here you can find Site Title and Tagline.

Change the title name and description as you wish and then click on Save Changes.

Even now if the title or the description is not changed then check whether you have installed All in One SEO plugin. If yes, then carry out Method-2.

Method-2 (If All in One SEO plugin is installed):--

Go to your website Dashboard.(Ex.http://yourwebsitename/wp-admin)

Now go to Plugins-->Active.

Find All in One SEO pack and then click on Edit.

Change the name and description here and you are done :)

Aircel subscribers can call to 51555 and then speak into the handset to update their status which will be then transcribed into text and posted on the caller’s Facebook profile.

Generally, speech recognition tool will not lead to accurate results but Aircel service provider has come up with a very handy tool which will accurately parse your speech and converts it into text and updates it in your Facebook profile.
