Sony Ericsson Xperia Active and Xperia Ray

Sony Ericsson has announced two new Android 2.3 phones under the Xperia series – Xperia Active and Xperia Ray, in a global media conference in Singapore . Both of which use Sony’s Mobile Bravia engine to enhance the displays.  Xperia Ray and Xperia Active are expected to be released in the third quarter of this year.

Xperia Active


Xperia Active is powered by Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) operating system and boasts of  1GHz processor. It has a 3inch capacitive touchscreen display with wet finger tracking and sports a 5MP camera.

Xperia Active weighs just 110.8 grams and is available in two colors – White band with black back color and Orange band with black back color.



Xperia Ray


Sony Ericsson’s Xperia Ray is almost similar to the Xperia Active in terms of features except that it has 3.3inch capacitive touchscreen display with 854 x 480 pixels resolution and a 8.1 megapixel camera with 16x digital zoom. It is powered by Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) OS and 1GHz processor.

Xperia Active is a bit lighter than Xperia Active and weighs just under 100 grams. It is available in four colors – Black, Gold, White and Pink.




Availability and Price


Xperia Ray and Xperia Active will be released in the third quarter of 2011, however the price of the smartphones are still not known.

3D Specs-free monitor by LG


The technology of 3D introduced 3D televisons, 3D movies, 3D cameras, 3D printers and etc...  For watching television or movies, we need to wear 3D glasses which is quite frustrating. For the computer users, the technology of 3D didn't impress to maximum extent because of monitors.


But the LG(Life's Good) company gave a thought on this and has come up with 3D specs free monitor named LG DX2000. This monitor tracks our eyeballs to provide a 3D view. Monitor has a capability to change from 2D to 3D and vice versa.


LG DX2000 will be soon available in korea at a price of about $1250.

LG Optimus 3D - First glassless 3D Smartphone


In the Mobile World Congress 2011 meet at Barcelona, Spain this month, LG showcased its new glassless 3D phone called LG Optimus 3D. Phone has some amazingly new features and happens to be the first such mobile in the world. LG Optimus 3D, not only supports a 3D User interface, it also has 3D capable Video recorder. LG Optimus 3D runs on Android OS and embodies a very powerful processor and GPU. Here's a list of some important features that you don't find in any other smartphones.




  • Stereoscopic 3D display with a resolution of 800x480px

  • 3D space mode for 3D apps, media and games.

  • Dual Core 1GHz ARM Processor with PowerVR SGX540 GPU.

  • Dual 5MP camera for 3D video recording.

  • Video Recording : 1080p @ 24fps for 2D and 720p @ 30fps for 3D.


This phone will be available in late 2011 and may set a trend among other major competitors. This is definitely an out-of-box thinking by LG.
